Tiny Desk Contest!
Please check out my #tinydesk Entry “Rimum” which is ancient Akkadian for Wild Bull.
I think you can hear him galloping a bit!
So thrilled to record this with Missy Raines and Kris Karlson.
I am using #abletonlive with the #looper plugin controlled by internal midi triggers so #handsfree!
I record into #ableton as I play through the first three times looping each take. Then I take a solo over that and mix the #oboe loops live during the rest of the song.
Please give it a like on youtube!

Rimum (the Wild Bull) from Atlanta Wed night
I re-orchestrated this and added a Baritone Sax line that I am now very attached to! Very fun playing with #4WAKO – the 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer small ensemble. We opened for #paalnilsen-love’s Large Group which was absolutely terrific!
many thanks to Unknown Vincent for his great documentation
Now Fiscally Sponsored!
I am so excited to be fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas! Currently, I am raising funds for “Conversations with Cranes,” a musical composition and interactive video project supported in part by the Puffin Foundation.
I am making field recordings of Cranes at several of their stopover points in the US, recording their calls and capturing video. My composition will feature conversations between these calls and Western and Eastern oboes. There will be an interactive video piece in this series as well.
Your donation towards this work is now tax deductible!
Thank you Fractured Atlas!
Puffin Foundation Grant!
I just received a grant from the Puffin Foundation! It supports a new project that will mix field recordings of Cranes with Eastern and Western oboes, interactions and ultimately visuals. Many thanks for your support of this project Puffin Foundation!

sitting in with the Symphony tonight
Yes it’s been a wild week. Free jazz Thursday at a coffee shop with 4 horns and a robotic drum and tonight I’m in formal black again for a festive holiday celebration with Miranda Lambert and the Nashville Symphony. It’s my first time playing with the NSO and I am enjoying it!
