more on Pavane for Palestine, Lachrimae
Pavane was commissioned by Kelly Corcoran and her new music ensemble Intersection with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
It was an wide open request for a classical composition for their ensemble. The Hamas attack and Israel’s subsequent bombing, displacement and killing of so many Palestinian civilians and children since that time-written in 2024, with support from the US has been heavily on my mind during this time and was my inspiration for this piece.
I hope that this music will encourage compassion and support for those still alive and trapped in Gaza.
